The most important research humanity could be doing right now is, in many cases, not the research that gets funded. Grants reward consensus. Tenure rewards safety. VC rewards exits. The work that’s genuinely new — or genuinely inconvenient — ends up homeless.
This project is for the homeless work. It’s the sister to the Production Modules: same drop-deployable thinking, applied to research and development instead of mainstream manufacturing.
And because work like this sometimes finds itself in the crosshairs, the whole thing is wrapped in a protective layer: a decentralized network of servers that continuously mirrors the research, with a dead-man’s-switch open-source trigger. If a lab or a researcher is silenced, suppressed, or shut down for what they’re doing — their work doesn’t disappear. It publishes itself. Suppression backfires.

When work is ready (or forced) to be published, it lands in a public archive — fully open-sourced, citable, and downloadable.

Legal and operational shielding.
Wrap the network in the legal structures and operational hygiene needed for researchers to actually do this work without ending up alone.
